Göteborgs-Posten recently highlighted the work that Capacio and Mind Gains are carrying out together with IFK Göteborg. In the article, figures including Jesper Jansson, Staffan Olsson, and Anders Norén discuss how psychological and cognitive insights are now becoming part of the club’s decision-making framework.
The collaboration began in the summer of 2025 and aims to complement traditional scouting, performance analysis, and physical data with evidence-based psychological assessments. The objective is to create stronger foundations for decisions related to player development, squad building, and recruitment.
Jesper Jansson describes the need as follows:
"Previously, decisions were largely based on intuition, references, and personal conversations. At the same time, you measure everything else — maximum running capacity, passing patterns, and KPIs — but very little of what actually happens in the mind. This helps fill a gap that has long been overlooked."
The article provides a clear picture of how psychological factors are increasingly being viewed as a natural part of modern elite football, and how clubs are beginning to work more systematically with aspects that have previously been difficult to measure.
